IMPORTANT HIP RESTRAINT NOTICE

We recently received reports that the hip restraints on a small number of RXV golf cars have fractured. The safety of E-Z-GO’s customers and their guests is the Company’s top priority. Therefore, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the hip restraints on all RXV vehicles are being replaced. The replacement hip restraints are identical in strength and materials to those used without incident for years on the E-Z-GO TXT golf car.

Unfortunately, there have been reports of a few minor injuries resulting from a hip restraint breaking. While we believe it is safe to continue to operate your vehicle, we want to take every precaution in ensuring the safety and comfort of you and your passengers. When entering and exiting the golf car, please use caution and DO NOT LEAN on the hip restraint, as it may fracture if excessive force is applied and the rider could fall from the vehicle. Please use the safety handle located on the vehicle top for additional support while entering, exiting, turning or stopping the golf car.

E-Z-GO representatives will be contacting owners of RXV vehicles to arrange a time for our service technicians to, at no cost to them, replace the hip restraints on the golf cars.

RXV – SAFETY IS TOP OF MIND

Like all E-Z-GO vehicles, the E-Z-GO® RXV™ and Freedom® RXV were designed from the ground-up with the safety and security of its operators and passengers of paramount importance. The RXV incorporates technology unavailable in any other golf car to ensure that its passengers remain safe from injury.

The electric RXV features an industry-first automatic parking brake to prevent dangerous rollaway situations, and also features a state-of-the-art automatic braking system that allows the vehicle to brake automatically on steep grades, controlling the vehicle’s speed and providing a safe and secure ride for driver and passenger.

Unlike any other golf car, the RXV features 360-degree energy-transfer bumpers that are rated to withstand impacts of up to 5 mph without significant damage.

But no safety features, however advanced, can replace the precautions and common sense of a responsible driver and passenger. Although by no means a comprehensive list, the tips and recommendations on this page can help ensure that drivers and passengers of E-Z-GO vehicles remain safe and enjoy their E-Z-GO experience.

SAFETY TIPS

Although by no means a comprehensive list, the following tips and recommendations can help ensure that drivers and passengers of E-Z-GO vehicles remain safe and enjoy their E-Z-GO experience.

Read and follow all safety precautions outlined in the owner’s manual of your E-Z-GO vehicle. Also, know and follow all state and local regulations governing the use of golf cars and personal-use vehicles in your area.
Keep hands and feet inside the vehicle at all times.
Do not operate the vehicle on public roads.
Never operate the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or any other substance.
Do not operate the vehicle with more than two (2) passengers per bench seat.
Special care must be taken when using the vehicle in the presence of children. Do not allow young children or teenagers to operate the vehicle, particularly unattended. E-Z-GO recommends that only licensed drivers operate E-Z-GO vehicles.
Do not allow young children to ride in the vehicle without a supervising adult. Children’s feet must be able to touch the floorboard of the vehicle, and they must be able to hold on to the safety handles on the vehicle canopy or restraint.
Under no circumstances should a child-safety seat or booster seat be used in a golf car or personal-utility vehicle. These seats were not designed for use in personal-utility vehicles, and cannot be properly secured to guard against injury in the event of a collision.
Make sure that tires are properly inflated before operating. Never install unapproved tires, including so-called “low-pressure” tires, on a personal-utility vehicle. Use of these tires can create an extremely unstable and hazardous operating condition.
Modifications to the vehicle, such as installation of a “lift kit” or rear-facing seat, can change the operating characteristics of the vehicle. Always be sure you understand and are mindful of the ways in which a modification can alter a vehicle’s behavior. Also, if modifying a vehicle, we recommend the use of genuine E-Z-GO parts and accessories, which have been tested to conform to safe operating standards and conditions. Genuine E-Z-GO parts and accessories are available at your local E-Z-GO dealer.
Do not modify your E-Z-GO vehicle to go faster than the speed at which it was designed to operate from the factory. Such modifications cause the vehicle to operate at a speed and in a manner for which it was not intended, designed or tested. Such modifications also are often in violation of federal, state and local laws governing the use of personal-utility vehicles.
Passengers in a rear-facing seat must use particular care, since they cannot see the upcoming path of the vehicle or possible approaching hazards. Rear-facing passengers must always hold on to safety handles and keep their feet firmly placed upon the vehicle’s floorboard.

This is not an exhaustive list of safety guidelines and precautions. No list, however lengthy, could ever cover all of the possible operating situations and conditions for every E-Z-GO vehicle in every possible environment.
